The batch code on the base of a can is the traceability to identify when and where a can was filled. This information is a quality requirement and must be printed on every product. The information can differ depending on the product and end destination. There is a procedure in Mastercontrol that covers the variations if you need more details - Q-00149. All filling partners have their own identifable letters.

UB - James Briggs

TT- Tosvar

JP - Jagopro

HK - Hydrokem

BA - Barony

The majority of aerosol cans are printed in the same format -  Julian date, Filler, Production Line, Time  and Date.

The 'Julian Date' is a code that represents the date a product was manufactured, this follows the format YYDDD, for example 22298 would have been manufactured in 2022 on the 298th day, meaning the 25/10/22.

Looking at the example above, we can identify that this can was filled on the 316th day of 2019, it was filled by James Briggs on Line 2 at 21:15 on the 12.11.2019.

We have a date code statement explaining this should you require this for a customer and can be found here - Date code statement.pdf
